Satyanarayana Puja, or Satyanarayana Vrat as it is commonly known, is an auspicious Hindu religious tradition. A ritual which is performed by people on many major occasions like housewarming, marriage etc., and this puja can be performed at home on any day without any reason. This is the first ritual mentioned in the Skanda Purana of Hindus. Satyanarayan Puja is generally performed on the full moon or full moon day, which is considered to be truly fortunate.<\/p>\n

Popularity of Satyanarayan Puja<\/span><\/h2>\n

Shri Satyanarayana Puja is considered a traditional ritual in various parts of India, including Bengal, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Marathi people celebrate this ritual on Chaturthi or Ekadashi. The worship of Chitpavan community has special significance in Maharashtra.<\/p>\n

In West Bengal, the puja is performed before building a house or entering a new house.<\/p>\n

In Andhra Pradesh, people have strong faith and belief in Srimannarayana, who is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. There is a famous and ancient temple at Annavaram in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, which is dedicated to Sri Satyanarayana and witnesses thousands of devotees visiting the temple to offer their prayers. This fast is observed regularly in Annavaram. Not only the devotees, but their families also visit this temple and participate in the fast, which is considered to be the most sacred way of offering prayers.<\/p>\n
