It shows where the role is based (<strong>Remote<\/strong> here), when it was posted, and the deadline: <strong>Closes: January 1, 2027<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>That <strong>Closes:<\/strong> date is the application deadline for this role and nothing else on the page overrides it. Say why you are a good fit, what you have done before, and when you are free. They read applications in their own time and reply to you directly, so keep an eye on your MyMahotsav messages and on the inbox for the email address on your account. The listing page itself does not turn into a progress tracker &mdash; it carries on showing the role and its closing date as normal.<\/p>\n<h2>Who sets the closing date and the questions<\/h2>\n<p>The two halves are owned by different people, which is worth knowing if a role you are watching behaves unexpectedly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The closing date is the listing owner&rsquo;s.<\/strong> Whoever posts a role sets it in the <strong>Closing date<\/strong> field while they are creating the listing, and it is what you see as <strong>Closes:<\/strong> on the finished page. They can leave it blank.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The questions are the same everywhere.<\/strong> <strong>Message<\/strong> and <strong>Upload CV<\/strong> are the standard application questions used across all of Utsav Volunteers. They are looked after centrally by the MyMahotsav team, so they are not something a listing owner adds, removes or reorders on their own role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"background:#f4f6f8;border-left:4px solid #9aa4b2;border-radius:8px;padding:14px 18px;margin:22px 0;line-height:1.6;\">&#8505;&#65039; <strong>Note<\/strong><br \/>If you post roles and need applicants to answer something specific &mdash; a qualification, availability on particular festival dates, a language &mdash; ask for it in the role description and invite people to cover it in their <strong>Message<\/strong>. Custom question sets are not something you can build yourself, so contact support if you need one considered.<\/div>\n<h2>Tips and best practices<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Do not wait for the closing date.<\/strong> It is the last date the role accepts applications, not the date it will be decided &mdash; many roles are filled before then.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Write your message somewhere you can copy from.<\/strong> Drafting in a notes app or document means an accidental refresh costs you nothing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Answer the role, not the platform.<\/strong> One <strong>Message<\/strong> box has to carry everything, so name the role, match yourself to what it asks for, and give your availability.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Name your CV file properly<\/strong> &mdash; your own name and the year beats &ldquo;document-final-2.pdf&rdquo; when someone is opening thirty of them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use Send Message for questions, Apply for job for applications.<\/strong> Asking a sensible question first is welcome; asking it instead of applying leaves you out of the running.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"background:#eef8f0;border-left:4px solid #2e9e5b;border-radius:8px;padding:14px 18px;margin:22px 0;line-height:1.6;\">&#127919; <strong>Best practice<\/strong><br \/>Check the <strong>Closes:<\/strong> date before you invest time in a long message, and apply at least a few days ahead of it. A role that is close to its deadline may already be shortlisting.<\/div>\n<h2>Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<h3>There is no Apply for job button on the listing<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> either you are signed out &mdash; a sign-in box appears in place of the apply panel &mdash; or the role has passed its closing date and is no longer accepting applications. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> sign in and reload the listing. If the meta line shows the role as closed rather than a future <strong>Closes:<\/strong> date, applications for it have ended; go back to <strong>Open Roles<\/strong> for something similar, or use <strong>Alert me to jobs like this<\/strong> on the listing to hear about the next one. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> you are signed in, the listing still shows a <strong>Closes:<\/strong> date in the future, and no apply button appears.<\/p>\n<h3>The form opens but Send application does nothing<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> a required answer is empty &mdash; usually <strong>Message<\/strong> &mdash; or the file you attached is too large or in a format the upload area will not take. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> make sure <strong>Message<\/strong> has text in it, then try sending without the attachment. If that works, re-save your CV as a smaller PDF and mention in your message that it is available on request. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> the form still will not send with the message filled in and no file attached.<\/p>\n<h3>You sent the application and want to change it<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> applications are filed the moment you select <strong>Send application<\/strong> &mdash; there is no draft stage and nothing to edit afterwards. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> use <strong>Send Message<\/strong> on the same listing to send the correction or the missing attachment directly to the person who posted the role. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> you applied to the wrong role, or sent something you need removed altogether.<\/p>\n<h3>You applied before the deadline and heard nothing<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> replies come from the listing owner rather than from the platform, and they answer in their own time. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> check your MyMahotsav messages and the inbox for the email address on your account, including the spam or promotions folder, then follow up politely with <strong>Send Message<\/strong> on the listing. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> the listing looks misleading or you think it is not genuine.<\/p>\n<h2>FAQ<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Q: Where do I find a role&rsquo;s application deadline?<\/strong><br \/>A: In the small line of job meta directly under the role title on the listing page, shown as <strong>Closes:<\/strong> followed by the date.
