For Utsav Recipes it reads the <strong>recipe title<\/strong> and the recipe&rsquo;s <strong>tags<\/strong>, then ranks the closest matches first. They stay inside Utsav Recipes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Tips and best practices<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Start with one word. Add a second only if the first returns too much.<\/li>\n<li>Search by ingredient when you are cooking from what is in the kitchen &mdash; <strong>paneer<\/strong>, <strong>besan<\/strong>, <strong>coconut<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Check the heading on the results page. It repeats your search term back to you, which catches typing slips straight away.<\/li>\n<li>The magnifier travels with you. Smart Search ranks on titles and tags, so give your recipe a plain, descriptive title &mdash; <strong>Paneer Butter Masala<\/strong>, not <strong>Amma&rsquo;s Sunday Special<\/strong> &mdash; and add the tags a cook would actually type: the main ingredient, the occasion or festival, and the course. A well-tagged recipe is found; a poetically titled one is not.<\/div>\n<h2>Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<h3>I cannot see the magnifier icon<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> the header is scrolled out of view, or the page has not finished loading, so the icon row has not yet appeared.<br \/>\n<strong>Fix:<\/strong> scroll to the very top of the page and look at the far right of the header, just to the left of the messages and notification icons. Then try the main ingredient. If you are hunting for your own submission, remember that it only becomes searchable once it has been approved.<br \/>\n<strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> a recipe you can open and read normally never appears when you search for its exact title.<\/p>\n<h3>My results are full of things that are not recipes<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> Smart Search covers the whole of MyMahotsav, so a common word matches events, listings, discussions and products as well as food.<br \/>\n<strong>Fix:<\/strong> in the Smart Search box, use the content-type groups and read only the <strong>Recipes<\/strong> group. For a cleaner list still, use the filter columns on <strong>Browse Recipes<\/strong>, which never leave Utsav Recipes.<br \/>\n<strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> no <strong>Recipes<\/strong> group appears at all even though recipes clearly match what you typed.<\/p>\n<h3>Pressing Enter took me away from the recipe I wanted<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> submitting the search opens the full site-wide results page rather than the single recipe you had your eye on in the list.<br \/>\n<strong>Fix:<\/strong> click the recipe directly in the Smart Search list instead of pressing Enter. If you have already landed on the results page, find the recipe card and click its title link.<br \/>\n<strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> clicking a recipe result opens a page that is not that recipe.<\/p>\n<h2>FAQ<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Q: How does Smart Search index recipes?<\/strong><br \/>\nA: It keeps its own index of MyMahotsav content and, for Utsav Recipes, reads each published recipe&rsquo;s title and tags.
