Finish the form to save. Your listing stays published with its reviews, photos and search presence intact. There is no date picker for this, so the dates go in your own words in the description.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 1 &mdash; Open your temple listing for editing<\/h2>\n<p>Open the listing you want to close. The page is headed <strong>Edit Temple<\/strong>, and the form runs as a strip of stages across the top &mdash; <strong>Package<\/strong>, <strong>Title<\/strong>, <strong>Location<\/strong>, <strong>Contact<\/strong>, <strong>Linked Details<\/strong>, <strong>Activity<\/strong> and <strong>Leadership<\/strong> &mdash; which you move through with <strong>Next<\/strong>. Nothing here changes your opening status, but the form will not move on until both answers are set.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Leave your existing package selected &mdash; in the picture that is <strong>Beta Tester<\/strong>, ringed as <strong>1<\/strong>. This is the most important stage for a temporary closure, because it holds the <strong>description<\/strong> that visitors actually read.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check <strong>Temples Name<\/strong>, ringed in the picture. Leave it as the temple&rsquo;s real name &mdash; do not add &ldquo;closed&rdquo; to it. The tickbox later on is what marks the status; the name should stay searchable.<\/li>\n<li>Check <strong>Category<\/strong> and <strong>Default Category<\/strong> are still filled. Both are required, and an empty or default category is what stops <strong>Next<\/strong> from working later.<\/li>\n<li>In <strong>Temples Description<\/strong>, add a short, plain closure note at the top: that the temple is temporarily closed, the dates, the reason, what is paused, and a phone number or email for urgent requests. Mismatched dates are the most common cause of confused enquiries.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to move on towards the opening-hours part of the form.<\/li>\n<li>If the same screen simply comes back with no error, a required field above is empty &mdash; almost always <strong>Category<\/strong> or <strong>Default Category<\/strong>. You are not deleting them &mdash; they are the hours you will go back to, and clearing them means rebuilding the whole week when you reopen.<\/li>\n<li>Do not look for a reopening-date box next to the tickbox. It is a plain tickbox labelled <strong>Temporarily Closed<\/strong>, sitting directly beneath <strong>Temple Opening Hours<\/strong> &mdash; if you can see the opening hours, you are on the right screen.<\/div>\n<h2>Step 8 &mdash; Work through to the end so the change is saved<\/h2>\n<p>The form only saves when you complete it, so carry on with <strong>Next<\/strong> through the remaining stages &mdash; <strong>Location<\/strong>, <strong>Contact<\/strong>, <strong>Linked Details<\/strong>, <strong>Activity<\/strong> and <strong>Leadership<\/strong> &mdash; and finish at the last stage. Closing the tab part-way through leaves the tickbox unticked on your live listing.<\/p>\n<p>Then check your work: go back to <strong>My Listings<\/strong> and open your listing&rsquo;s public page. The badge on the listing card tells you where the change is &mdash; <strong>Published<\/strong> means it is live, while <strong>Awaiting review<\/strong> means it is still with our team and will appear once approved.<\/p>\n<h2>Tips and best practices<\/h2>\n<div style=\"background:#eef8f0;border-left:4px solid #2e9e5b;border-radius:8px;padding:14px 18px;margin:22px 0;line-height:1.6;\">&#127919; <strong>Best practice<\/strong><br \/>Do both things, not one: tick <strong>Temporarily Closed<\/strong> <em>and<\/em> put the dates in the description. Search results and previews often show only the first line or two.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Use real dates, not &ldquo;a few weeks&rdquo;.<\/strong> &ldquo;Closed until 14 October 2026&rdquo; stops repeat enquiries in a way &ldquo;closed for now&rdquo; never does.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Give people somewhere to go.<\/strong> A phone number, an email address or a nearby sister listing in the description turns a dead end into a helpful answer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set a reminder for yourself.<\/strong> Nothing reopens your listing automatically. On the day you reopen, come back into the form, untick the box, and take the closure note out of the description and <strong>Special Rituals<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>If your listing is not a temple:<\/strong> business, organisation and other listing types have no <strong>Temporarily Closed<\/strong> tickbox. Put the closure note at the top of the description instead, and mirror it anywhere else visitors read &mdash; it is the same message, just without the status flag.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Do not delete the listing to close it.<\/strong> Deleting loses your reviews, photos, followers and the address people have bookmarked. A temporary closure keeps all of it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Troubleshooting<\/h2>\n<h3>I cannot find a Temporarily Closed tickbox anywhere on my form<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> either your listing is not a temple listing &mdash; the tickbox is only on temple listings &mdash; or you have not yet reached the stage that holds <strong>Temple Opening Hours<\/strong>. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> check the heading at the top of the form. If it does not say <strong>Edit Temple<\/strong>, there is no tickbox to find and the closure goes in your description. If it does, keep clicking <strong>Next<\/strong> until the opening-hours section appears; the tickbox is directly underneath it. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> you are on a temple listing, you can see <strong>Temple Opening Hours<\/strong>, and there is no tickbox below it.<\/p>\n<h3>Next does nothing &mdash; the same screen just comes back<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> a required field is empty and the form is not showing an error. On the listing-details stage this is nearly always <strong>Category<\/strong> or <strong>Default Category<\/strong>. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> scroll back up that stage. Remove any placeholder chip in <strong>Category<\/strong> using its &times;, pick a real category, then choose the same one in <strong>Default Category<\/strong>. Check <strong>Temples Name<\/strong> and <strong>Temples Description<\/strong> are filled too, then click <strong>Next<\/strong> again. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> every starred field is filled and <strong>Next<\/strong> still returns the same screen.<\/p>\n<h3>The form opens with text I did not write, or a bar about unsaved changes<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> the form kept an unfinished draft from a previous visit and is showing you that instead of your live listing. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> use the <strong>click here<\/strong> link in the bar at the top to remove the revision, then reload the form and start again from your published details. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> removing the revision does not bring back your live listing text.<\/p>\n<h3>I get a sign-in box instead of the form, or the form looks almost empty<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cause:<\/strong> you are signed out, or you are signed in as a member who does not own that listing &mdash; the edit form only opens fully for the owner. <strong>Fix:<\/strong> sign in with the account that created the listing, then reach the form through <strong>Listings Dashboard &rarr; My Listings &rarr; Edit<\/strong> so you are certain you are on your own listing. <strong>Escalate if:<\/strong> you are signed in as the owner, the listing appears in <strong>My Listings<\/strong>, and the form still will not open properly.<\/p>\n<h2>FAQ<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Q: How do I mark my listing temporarily closed?<\/strong><br \/>A: Open your temple listing for editing at <strong>Listings Dashboard &rarr; My Listings &rarr; Edit<\/strong>, click <strong>Next<\/strong> through the form until you reach <strong>Temple Opening Hours<\/strong>, tick <strong>Temporarily Closed<\/strong> underneath it, and complete the rest of the form so the change saves.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: Can I add a reopening date?<\/strong><br \/>A: Not as a date field &mdash; there is no reopening-date picker anywhere on the form. Nothing reopens automatically: the owner must return to the form and untick the box. The change saves only when the form is completed through to its final stage. Required fields on the listing-details stage are Temples Name, Category, Default Category and Temples Description; an unset Category or Default Category makes Next silently redisplay the same screen with no error. The edit form only opens for the member who owns the listing; a sign-in box means the member is signed out. After saving, the badge on the listing card in My Listings reads Published or Awaiting review.
