Making Indian food at home is easy and accessible when you have all the right ingredients. Join food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley for a delicious menu that includes several fragrant and mouth-watering recipes she learned while living in England, where fabulous Southeast Asian cuisine reigns supreme. You will make classic butter chicken that is flavorful and flexible enough to add heat or keep it kid-friendly mild. (This is the gateway dish if you want to introduce the kids to Indian food!) We’ll also make two vegetarian-vegan dishes: Bombay aloo, a crispy curried potato dish and a modern cumin carrot and black lentil salad with a surprising curry vinaigrette. Shawnie will demonstrate how to make dough for naan while you fry it and whip up yogurt raita. Columbus is lucky to have several specialized Indian shops and international stores, making it easy to get your hands on what you need. During class, Shawnie will discuss ingredients, flavors, cooking techniques, and regional differences. At the end of class, enjoy your meal with a glass of wine or chai tea.
