Bridge India is delighted to host an exciting evening of culture in celebration of Diwali, with StoryHour UK.

The Ramayana Puppet Show is StoryHour UK’s flagship performance. A timeless piece of culture and art, this story narrates the epic tale behind the festival of Diwali, using uniquely hand-crafted puppets. Having been performed across many different audiences, this puppet show has been celebrated for capturing the essence of a classic. The show has been screened at various Indian embassies across Europe and schools in London while also being readily available in 6 languages here. It has been applauded by Indian Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, author Amish Tripathi and others.

Alongside a screening of the puppet show, there will be live puppeteers demonstrating scenes from the Ramayana, and an installation of the six puppets, followed by producer Neelima Penumarthy joining us for a talk.

Neelima is an audiobook publisher and puppet show producer based in London. Born and brought up in Hyderabad, she came to London in 1996 as a Chevening Scholar studying MSc Chemistry at Imperial College London. Since then she has been pursuing her motto of ‘’connecting cultures’’ through stories in her work. As well as the Ramayana puppet show, she has made audiobooks on India’s Independence and other stories.

The session will be in a relaxed sit-down experience for families and young professionals alike to immerse themselves in what Bridge India anticipates to be a holistic exploration of Indian culture.
