One of the most enigmatic of all Hindu deities who is worshipped by millions, is Shiva. Conqueror of Time and Death. He combines the energy of the creator in the form of the Linga or the cosmic phallus, the consummate meditating yogi or ascetic renunciate, he is also Nataraj, the Lord of the lila or the dance of life, and the Lord of destruction as one of the Trimurti or 3 faces of God. The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away
Shiva in Judaism, derived from the Hebrew word “shiv’ah” meaning seven, refers to the weeklong period of mourning referred to as “sitting shiva.” During this time mourning rights and prayers such as reciting Kaddish are performed
This dharma talk will show the various ways that Shiva manifests, mourning rights and how we can identify with those attributes that can benefit each of us when we find how those qualities resonate within our own psyche. Through a power point presentation, chanting, and dancing, we will explore how to align ourselves with the energy of Shiva.
