Art of Living LA brings you the fun-filled festival of colors.
Our founder Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar says “Lift Your Spirit with Joy of Color”. To know more: https://www.artofliving.org/us-en/wisdom/knowledge-sheets/holi
Holi is the festival of colors. For centuries, this is the one festival that has been uniting people of all classes, castes, age groups, and generations. Everyone comes together and celebrates the oneness of humanity, and that is the message of Holi.
Society divides people, sometimes on the basis of profession, sometimes on the basis of gender, sometimes based on age groups. Holi is the time when we break all these barriers of gender, nationality, race, and religion — from the elderly to the young, you hug everybody and put colors on them. It’s a unifying celebration.
The celebration will have:
1. Food – Delicious vegetarian only food is available to purchase at the venue.
2. Colors and Water splash – We would provide handful of colors to start with. There will be few rounds of on-demand water splashes. Extra colors and water balloons are available to purchase at the venue.
3. Human Pyramid Matka (pot) Breaking ritual – The ‘Matka’ means an earthen pot and this is filled with butter, milk, flowers, coins. This pot is hang by ropes decorated with flowers from a height. The male groups of young boys tries to break the Pot by forming a human pyramid, which is difficult. When the pot is finally broken, everyone tries to get the small coins which are scattered on the path. There is a kind of competition during the Matka breaking ceremony. After Matka breaking ceremony, some people continue singing and dancing.
4. Live Music -Live music will keep our Holi vibe going .
5. Meditation – Every celebration has certain elements of silence from within. There will be a guided meditation lead by an Art of Living Meditation instructor.
