Pandit Sugato Bhaduri, one of the most sought after Mandolinist in India today, was initiated into the field of music at a very tender age. While he was a school going boy started learning vocal music from his uncle and emerged out as a child artist performing on A.I.R.
During his college days, he turned on to instrumental music and has taken the basic lessons of western music for this western instrument-‘MANDOLIN’. After graduation in science, he devoted himself in Hindustani Classical Music & over a period of 17 years he has learnt under the active supervision of renowned sarodiya Pt. T. N. Majumder. He was also privileged to join the workshops for higher talim conducted by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, the legendary figure in Indian music.
In the year 2001, this young torch-bearer of Maihar-Seni Gharana has been awarded the prestigious SURMANI title by Sur-Singar Samsad (mumbai).
In 2012, he has been awarded the prestigious GANDHARVA RATNA title by Sangeet Samraat Ustad Alladiya khan memorial,kolhapur,Maharashtra.
In 2019, he has been awarded the prestigious,MAHARISHI award in London by Maharishi Foundation U.K.
The salient feature of his music, speaks of his rare caliber of blending the Gayaki-ang with Tantrakari in an aesthetically rich manner.His crystal clear variegated ekhara taans and rhythmic intricacy is worthy to note. Profound emotionalism, vast intellectual approach towards the raga and sound technique are the basic components of his music.
Since 2005 Sugato has toured extensively in Europe(U.K, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden,Belgium, Netherlands,France, Switzerland ,Spain, Portugal, Austria ,Serbia & Croatia) & performed in various prestigious international music festivals & concerts.
In May 2006 Sugato has performed in ‘EUROFESTIVAL ZUPFMUSIK, Bamberg, Germany as ever Indian artist. In june 2006 & may 2007,2009 & 2012 he has also performed in POUSSIERE DU MONDE FESTIVAL, Geneva, Switzerland.
In October 2014 Sugato has represented India in International Silk Road Music Festival,Yerevan, Armenia.
In 2017 & 2018 he has toured Malaysia & UAE respectively for concerts & workshop on Indian traditional music.
Sandip Bhattacharya, one of the finest Tabla players of Indian classical music and has attained a very special place for himself as deep musician, composer, multi instrumentalists among the musicians and music lovers around the world.
He belongs to the musical family. His uncle late Pt. Jyotin Bhattacharya (Gurubhai of Pt. Ravi Shankar and Ust. Ali Akbar Khan) He is the 3rd generation of his family.
Sandip Bhattacharya, grew up in Benaras with pure Benaras style of Tabla for 15 long years in Guru Shishya tradition with Pt. Ishwarlal Mishra (Pt. Anokhelal Mishra lineage) beside that he has learned Farukhabad, Ajrara style and compositions for 10 years as a shisya of Pt. Aravind Mulgaonkar of Mumbai.
Thus his style of playing is very unique which elaborates a wide range of 3 gharanas and Sandip beautifully combines this style to express his musical depth. He shares his knowledge with his students in Netherlands, different parts of Europe, Usa, Canada, Japan and in India.
Sandip has performed several times for the Queen and Royal family of Netherlads and it has been telecasted live on National T.V.
Over the years Sandip has performed all over the world with great masters of India such as Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia – Flute, Vidushi
Lakshmi Shankar – vocal, Pt. Budhaditya Mukherjee – Sitar, Ustd. Shahid Parvez – Sitar, Ustd. Shujaat Khan – sitar, Pt. Tarun Bhattacharya – santoor, to name a few among many master musicians.
He regularly collaborates for projects, concerts, festivals in prestigious theaters with top Dutch, Europian, American, African, Indonesians and Japanees musicians.
Sandip is an excellent Santoor player, Pakhawaj player and vocalist. He performs regularly with this instruments all over Europe and with his own group ASHVINS, SYNERGY WORLD PERCUSSION and in many other groups of Europe.
Sandip is a very inspiring and dedicated teacher/Guru and has many promising talented students in all over Europe and different parts of the world.
Since early 2021 Sandip is the Tabla teacher and performer at Gandhi Centre – The Hague, Netherlands.
