Additional Rules for Recipe Contests #
These terms supplement the general Contest rules for recipe contests. If you’re sharing your family’s traditional recipe, these additional rules apply.
The Simple Truth #

Original Recipes: Your recipe should be your own creation or a family recipe you have rights to share.

Clear Instructions: Recipes must be complete and easy to follow.

Ingredient Transparency: List all ingredients accurately.

Photos Help: Include photos of your dish—they’re often part of judging.

Food Safety: Recipes should follow safe food handling practices.
Part B: Recipe Contest-Specific Terms #
1. RECIPE REQUIREMENTS #
1.1 Format: Recipes must be submitted using the Contest recipe template, including:

Recipe name

Category (appetizer, main course, dessert, beverage, etc.)

Cuisine type (regional, traditional, fusion)

Preparation time
-
Cooking time
-
Servings/yield
-
Ingredients list (with precise measurements)

Step-by-step instructions

Chef’s notes/tips (optional)
1.2 Measurements:

Use standard measurements (cups, teaspoons, tablespoons, grams, milliliters)

Specify temperature units (°F or °C)
1.3 Ingredients:

List ingredients in order of use

Specify any substitutions that may affect results

Include all ingredients in the instructions
2. ORIGINALITY AND ATTRIBUTION #
2.1 Originality: Recipes must be Entrant’s own creation or a family recipe with permission to share. If adapted from another source, Entrant must:

Significantly modify the recipe

Acknowledge the source
-
Ensure no copyright violation
2.2 Family Recipes: Entrant represents that they have permission to share family recipes.
2.3 Published Recipes: Recipes previously published (blogs, cookbooks) are eligible but Entrant must own the rights.
3. PHOTOGRAPHY REQUIREMENTS #
3.1 Photo Requirements (if applicable):

At least one clear photo of the prepared dish

Additional photos of process optional

Good lighting and composition
-
No stock photography
3.2 Photo Rights: Photos are subject to the same intellectual property terms as other contest entries .
4. CONTENT STANDARDS #
4.1 Accuracy: All information must be accurate and not misleading. Instructions should produce the described dish when followed.
4.2 Safety: Recipes must follow safe food handling practices. MyMahotsav is not responsible for any illness or injury resulting from preparation or consumption of recipes.
4.3 Allergens: Entrants are encouraged to disclose common allergens (nuts, dairy, gluten, etc.) but are not required to guarantee allergen-free preparation.
4.4 Dietary Claims: Any claims about health benefits, dietary suitability (vegan, gluten-free), or cultural authenticity must be accurate.
5. PROHIBITED CONTENT #
5.1 Recipes may not include:

Illegal substances

Unsafe preparation methods

Discriminatory or offensive content

False or misleading claims
