Part A: Plain English Summary #

Protecting Against the Unexpected #

Events involve risks—injuries, property damage, cancellations. This policy explains the insurance requirements for hosts and recommendations for renters to ensure everyone is protected.

The Simple Truth #

  • Hosts Must Have Insurance: Every venue host on our platform is required to carry public liability insurance (minimum £10 million) .

  • Insurance Protects Everyone: Host insurance covers claims from third parties (like your guests) if they’re injured at the venue.

  • Your Insurance May Still Be Needed: Host insurance protects the host—it may not cover your losses if you have to cancel your event. Consider your own event insurance .

  • Proof Required: Hosts must provide certificates of insurance. We verify coverage.

  • No Coverage From Us: MyMahotsav does not provide insurance coverage to hosts or renters. You must arrange your own.

Part B: Insurance Requirements #

1. HOST INSURANCE OBLIGATIONS #

1.1 Mandatory Coverage: All Hosts Listing venues on Utsav Venues™ must maintain the following insurance coverage :

Insurance Type Minimum Coverage Applicability
Public Liability Insurance £10 million (or equivalent in local currency) ALL Hosts
Employers’ Liability Insurance As required by law (typically £5-10 million) Hosts with employees
Property Insurance Sufficient to cover full replacement value ALL Hosts (recommended)

1.2 Public Liability Coverage: This insurance protects against claims for:

  • Bodily injury to third parties (including Renters and their guests)

  • Damage to third-party property

  • Legal costs associated with such claims

1.3 Employers’ Liability: Required by law in many jurisdictions if Hosts employ staff. Covers claims by employees injured at work .

1.4 Property Insurance: Covers damage to the Host’s own property. While not always mandatory, we strongly recommend adequate coverage.

2. PROOF OF INSURANCE #

2.1 Certificate of Insurance: Hosts must provide a valid Certificate of Insurance upon:

  • Initial registration as a Host

  • Annual renewal of coverage

  • Upon request by the Platform

2.2 Certificate Requirements: The Certificate must show:

  • Host’s name (matching Platform account)

  • Policy number

  • Coverage limits (meeting minimum requirements)

  • Effective dates (covering the period of all Bookings)

  • Insurer’s name and contact details

2.3 Failure to Maintain Insurance: Hosts who fail to maintain required insurance may:

  • Have their listings suspended

  • Be unable to accept new Bookings

  • Have existing Bookings cancelled (with refunds to Renters)

  • Have their account terminated

3. HOST Indemnification #

3.1 Indemnity: Hosts agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyMahotsav Futuretech Ltd from any claims arising out of :

  • Injuries or damages occurring at their Venue

  • Their failure to maintain required insurance

  • Their breach of any laws or regulations

  • Any misrepresentations in their Listing

4. RENTER INSURANCE CONSIDERATIONS #

4.1 Recommended Coverage: While not mandatory, we strongly recommend that Renters consider purchasing :

Coverage Type Purpose
Event Cancellation Insurance Reimburses losses if event must be cancelled for covered reasons (illness, weather, etc.)
Personal Liability Insurance Covers claims if you or your guests cause injury or damage
Personal Accident Insurance Covers medical expenses for you or your guests
Equipment Insurance Covers damage to or theft of your own equipment brought to the venue

4.2 No Coverage From Host’s Policy: Renters should understand that the Host’s public liability insurance protects the Host against claims, not the Renter. It may not cover:

  • Your cancellation losses

  • Injury to you (unless caused by Host’s negligence)

  • Damage to your property

5. ADDITIONAL INSURED STATUS #

5.1 Venue Requirements: Some Hosts may require Renters to name them as an “additional insured” on their event insurance policy. Such requirements, if any, will be disclosed in the Listing.

5.2 Compliance: Renters are responsible for complying with any insurance requirements stated in the Listing.

6. PLATFORM’S POSITION #

6.1 No Insurance Provider: MyMahotsav Futuretech Ltd is not an insurance provider, agent, or broker. We do not underwrite, sell, or recommend specific insurance policies .

6.2 No Liability: We are not liable for any gaps in coverage, uninsured losses, or claims arising from insufficient insurance.

6.3 Information Only: Any information about insurance is provided for general guidance only and does not constitute professional advice. You should consult with qualified insurance professionals.
